Those sleek longboats are commemorated today during the Wooden Boat Festival (held the second weekend in September) with The annual Classic Mariner’s race (held in June)  and Shipwright Regatta (held in February) showcasing the finest wooden sailing vessels. Local shipwrights continue the tradition of building and restoration of these fine vessels.
